In order to use the launch switch to cut power to the entire +5V_SYS Bus, we need to re-wire how it ties into the H2 header. Currently ~4.8V is fed into pins H2.25 & 2.26. This prohibits the use of the launch switch as it is currently attached to +5V_SYS. The power trace on the PWB needs to be severed prior to attaching to H2.25 & H2.26 on the Battery Board and relocated to H2.39 and H2.40 Launch Switch (NO). H2.25 & H2.26 need to be connected to H2.43 & H2.44 Launch Switch Common (C) on the FM430 Board.
So you are talking about a single cut trace on the battery board, and then wiring from each side of the cut trace to the header connections that lead to the Launch Switch? Can you include an electrical schematic and a mechanical sketch of the implementation?
As discussed on 22 jul 2010: During battery installation, include the wire connection to the switch between the +Batt chain and the circuit card. This saves the cutting of any traces.
We will be asking CalPoly for the exact requirement of being "unpowered"
From the discussion with CalPoly, it seems that "unpowered" means that all power to the +5v bus needs to be severed physically, and does not mean that the batteries need to be depleted.Also, it does not matter though that we have the solar arrays connected and charging the batteries :-)
